About this Cook
I was raised a vegetarian and love being one. I focus a lot on vegan foods and raw ingredients, but it has to taste good. I believe simple foods are sometimes the most satisfying and I could eat avocado at almost every meal. My husband is not vegetarian, and we have 3 small children, so satisfying everyone with a decidedly vegetarian menu is my life.
My favorite things to cook
Eggless Cheesecake (4 ingredients), Chocolate Chip Cookies, Banana Bread, and (can I put Tea in here?)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love how my family puts lots of ingredients (ie: chopped nuts, chesses, sunflower seeds, tomatos, pesto, olives, carrots, berries, and of course avocado) in separate little handmade ceramic bowls so that everyone can make their salad or add to their entree while eating at the table. It is healthy and pleases even the pickiest eaters, plus it looks beautiful! (The funny thing is that this makes tons more dishes, but my dad and his wife do this anyway, and to this day refuse to use their dishwasher, but insist on handwashing everything.)
My cooking triumphs
My recipe for Chocolate Tofu Pie (published in the cookbook Eating For Two by Robin Lim), my specialties: Fresh Pesto from my garden, Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, Lasagna, Avocado-Tofu Guacamole, Fruit Salad, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pine Nut Cookies, and several Cheesecakes.
My cooking tragedies
One time I was making Pumpkin Pie, with the recipe that I had long since memorized, and though I got the proportions right, I accidentally grabbed what I thought was pumpkin pie spice, but turned out to be hot dog spice. (Let me say, what IS hot dog spice? And why would my parents entirely vegetarian household have it in a little unlabeled bag in their kitchen cuboard?)

Zucchini Ribbons With Goat Cheese
I added vegetarian soy "chicken". My (non-vegetarian) husband loved this, (but my kids didn't. Goat cheese melts fast, so wait until RIGHT before you serve it to make it taste the best. I also carmelized walnuts and added at the last minute.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust
I think you need to use all white flour. I used half whole wheat and it was not so great.

Pasta with Asparagus
I added tofu, chopped onion, and garlic powder. Everyone liked it!
