Per the suggestions of others, I added some vegetables. I think this was a huge mistake. The addition of vegetables (I chose corn and carrots) made this dish more like a slow cooker pot pie. I am however not giving this dish a 4 because of that I am rating it a 4 because the 2 10oz packages of dough was WAY too much (I have a rather large slow cooker) and the cooking time for the biscuits was grossly underestimated by the author. Not only did I let the biscuits cook for a half an hour more then suggested I had to take another suggestion and finish cooking in the oven, which in turn took an additional 20 minutes. On a smaller note I thought the onion could have been scaled down to about half as well. My suggestion: cook the recipe as is with half the suggested amount of "dumplings" and about half the amount of onion.
