About this Cook
I am a senior in college majoring in music and English. I'm in a serious relationship with the most amazing man in the world. I just moved into my first house and I'm living independently for the first time in my life.
My favorite things to cook
I really like to cook anything with chicken. It's definitely my favorite entree to prepare and eat. I also love to make desserts for my friends and family, cherry crumb cake especially.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In my family, my dad is the cook and not my mom. Not that my mom can't cook, she just doesn't enjoy it like my dad. When I was in high school he taught me how to make cherry crumb cake and now anytime I want to cook a special dessert for someone, cherry crumb cake is my first choice.
My cooking triumphs
I had my first dinner party a few weeks ago. I decided not to cook anything too advanced so I went with grilled alfredo sauce and meat sauce with mushrooms and whole wheat rotini and spaghetti noodles. For desert I made white cake with strawberry frosting and everyone seemed to love it.
My cooking tragedies
I hadn't been living in my new house very long, but I decided to cook some chicken and egg noodles. I also decided I wanted to add different spices, so I grabbed anything out of the spice cabinet I'd heard of and added it. Oregano and garlic powder is not a good combination if you don't know what you're doing.

Pears Covered with Chocolate
I made this for my parents when they visited me recently. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of squares, but next time I think I'll try milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet. My parents loved it, but I thought it was just okay.
