I took some advice from other reviewers and used yellow cake mix instead of the lemon cake.
I reduced 2 eggs to 1 egg, and I dare added 1/2+ cup real lemon juice! on top of that, I added 2 tsp lemon extract, and Yes, they turned out real
"tangy." I made sure to refregirate the dough, too, for several hours like others suggested. Very yummy cookies. Mahalo!
