About this Cook
I'm a big fan of all things artsy--singing, dancing, Broadway, painting, photography. I'm crazy about McDonald's french fries and Marble Slab ice cream. Dachshunds. Gerbera Daisies. Grammar. Pink. Rhinestones. Gaudy jewelry. Watching a lightning storm and curling up with a big thick novel. Watching "Hairspray" and "Dirty Dancing" and trying to learn the moves. I love my husband. He's a huge encouragement and help to me.
My favorite things to cook
Grandma's Sugar Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, Hot Ham and Cheese Dip
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everything was fried, fried, fried. A big family favorite is Chicken Fried Steak.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to bake and decorate fancy sugar cookies. They make great gifts or shower/party favors.

Beefy Barbecue Macaroni
This was pretty good. I think it would've been better had my barbeque been more tangy and spicy. I had a sweet barbeque on hand, and the flavors didn't mix well. Otherwise, I followed directions and made the cheese sauce, and it turned out just fine. I did put it in the oven for about 10 minutes with some extra cheese on top to give it a little more of a cheese taste, but I think it would've been fine without it.

Buttercream Icing
First time making this recipe, and I followed the advice and used all butter instead of butter and shortening. Tastes yummy, but after I colored the icing, it started to separate and got a real gritty look to it. Also, by the time I piped my second color, the icing was so runny, it didn't hold the detail. Next time I'll try the shortening and maybe refrigerate for a short time. Problem might have been that I used margarine instead of real butter, but I don't know.
