Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
We followed every bit of the recipe, apart from the cotija cheese. It is not available in Greece, so we substituted it for romano. It was amazing! The marinade was the best of all, but the salsa was great too. This recipe is indeed a bit time consuming, but it gives you something to rave about! I will use the marinade with other types of meat too.

Grilled Sausages with Caramelized Onions and Apples

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
I cooked the sausage in a skillet, removed it, cooked the onions and apples and put everything together in the end. It was good, but not spectacular. I'll make it again, although it lacks a wow factor, because it tastes good and is quick to make.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
We made this as a side dish for Asian orange chicken from this site also (so we omitted the chicken). It was easy, quick and delicious. Thanks for sharing - it is a keeper!

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
I made the following changes: 1) I used an egg when coating, and had the best-looking, crunchiest chicken bites ever! 2) I reduced the sugar to 2/3 cups. 3) I used 3 parts water, 2 cornstarch, and not the other way around. 4) Finally, I poured the sauce over the chicken, instead of simmering together. I served it with Chinese chicken fried rice 2 (minus the chicken, of course) from this site, and it was delicious. Thanks, I'll make it again.

White and Wild Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
We liked this pilaf a lot. On its own it was a teeny bit bland, but it complimented the spiciness of "Blackened tuna steaks with mango salsa" recipe (from this site also) perfectly! Also, it is an interesting change from plain white rice, and contains many veggies, which is good for you. A winner!

Blackened Tuna Steaks with Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
WOW! This recipe is amazing! The fish is so full of flavour, and its spiciness is very well-balanced by the fresh mango salsa - not to mention that it is easy, and presentation rocks! We had it with "white and wild rice pilaf" from this site also. Thank you for a definite keeper!

Chocolate Cherry Chip Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
This cake is amazing! I took the advice of greasing and flouring the pan, and also adding the chips and cherries 5 minutes after it started baking, and it worked like a charm - no mess at all! I only used 1 cup chocolate chips though, and they seemed plenty. Everyone liked it, this is a keeper! Thanks!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
We loved this recipe! It is quick and easy, but it looks like it took hours to make! It is nearly impossible to find pecans here, so I used grated almonds instead, and it worked great. Thanks for a new favourite!

Raspberry White Chocolate Mousse

It was very good! However, raspberry seeds were a pain. So, I'm trying it with sour cherries next time. Thanks!

Darra's Famous Tuna Waldorf Salad Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
It was good, but I couldn't taste the tuna in it! So, it either needs more tuna, or less apples/nuts. The changes we made was to sautee the onions, because we prefer them that way, and to use a half mayo/half yoghurt mixture.

Raspberry Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
These were yummy! My fiance said they were the best brownies ever! We didn't cut them in triangles, just in squares, simply because we wanted MORE per serving, LOL (no, they weren't too rich for us)! Thank you so much, larkspur!

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
My fiance loved it, but I thought it was a little bland. Next time, I'll add some garlic, onions and Worcestershire sauce to spice things up. I topped it with the sauce we love, from the Lemon barbeque meatloaf from this site (1/2 cup ketchup, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon prepared mustard, 1/4 teaspoon cloves and 1/4 teaspoon all-spice) and lemon wedges.

Broccoli Cashew Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I wanted so bad to try this recipe, and I would hate it if I gave it a bad rating. However, I would not be sincere if I said I liked it. The main problem is that it was overly sweet - the suggested amount of sugar is too much, in my opinion. I like well balanced sweet/savory dishes, but this tasted like a dessert! Also, the sugar/mayo mixture was too thick, and the raisins added even more to the sweetness of the dish. All in all, it is an interesting idea, but the final result was a disappointment. I really wish I could rate it better.

Pork Chops with Blue Cheese Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I liked the blue cheese gravy, but the pork chops were just ok. All in all, it was a good recipe, but we expected to be impressed - we weren´t. I will use the sauce with pasta, or sliced chicken filets in the future. We served this with french fries.

Rum Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
The cake itself was amazing. Fluffy and delicious - a great base for all my future non-chocolate cakes! The glaze was kind of strong for me, but my fiance loved it! I didn´t need to poke holes or anything, all the glaze was absorbed in 2 hours. Thanks for sharing!

Apple Hermits

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Honestly, at first I thought I didn't like them. They are not eye-appealing, and I made too much (about 60) for the two of us only. However, two and a half days later, I have realised that they are almost over - no other cookie has disappeared so quickly around here! So, they may not be flashy, but they are quite yummy and addicting! I skipped the glaze, they are perfect as they are.

This sandwich was amazing, and especially the garlic mayo rocked! As always in recipes using mayo, we put a half mayo / half yoghurt mixture, and we also added tomatoes. Thanks, we'll make this again and again!

This recipe was super easy. It was my first bread ever, and it still turned out well. I used this for sandwiches. Next time I will experiment with other spice combinations, to adjust the flavour to my personal preference.

Tropical Strawberry

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
It was just ok for us. We didn't add extra ice, because of the frozen fruit. It was so thick, that we used spoons. I found it a bit on the tart side.
