At the beginning, cooking didn't have much to do with my life: I grew up in a house where both my parents were working, and there were 3 kids, so our meals were restricted to ten-minute meals or fast food. As a result, when I became a university student, I couldn't even boil an egg! So, in order to save money, I started cooking and experimenting.
I thought it would be an overwhelming experience, but it wasn't. It turned out to be one of the loves of my life! My parents are now SO surprised every time they try my food and always say "well, THAT apple did fall far from the tree"! :P
I really love cooking and baking with fresh quality substances, but, most of all, I loooove enjoying them with my loved ones afterwards!
My favorite things to cook
I love Greek and Italian food and, most of all, traditional pies and pasta! I also love making desserts - and particularly experimenting with muffin and cheesecake recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Stuffed turkey at Christmas. It is one of our very few family cooking traditions, and I always cherish the memory of it. My mom's turkey stuffing is the ABSOLUTE BEST in the whole world for me.
My cooking triumphs
My friends don't seem to get enough of my pasta bolognese, or my traditional cheese pie. As a dessert, they always ask for apple pie, or halvas - too often, if you ask me! :P
My cooking tragedies
As a meal, I have to say sardines with parsley and garlic - they were EXTREMELY salty and inedible (even though I had them dipped in a bowl of water from the day before and changed it often, as I was supposed to)! My worst dessert ever were orange muffins with orange icing. The muffins overflowed in the oven and the icing was inexplicably runny and too sugary - uh!
