About this Cook
I've been cooking for longer than I can remember...but when the kid left, I changed my cooking habits. I'm married and have one "child" in the house...his name is Benji - the Dog. We love Benji and he's so much fun. I'm constantly making him get out of the kitchen when I'm cooking!
My favorite things to cook
German Chocolate Cake; Collard Greens; Green Beans with Bacon Bits; Spahgetti; Beef Chuck Roast.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family love to get together around Thanksgiving time. We'll have two or three desserts, three types of meat, greens, mac-n-cheese, cornbread dressing..the works. It's a great way to get the family together to give thanks.
My cooking triumphs
My mom used to make us kids a german chocolate cake and I remember that she used a rotary egg beater. I learned how to make that cake the way she did...with the rotary egg beater. My mom was a trooper and my hero!... but now I use an electric mixer! Whew!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made cornbread dressing I put too much sage in it. It came out green and looked like dog food...I now go easy on the sage...and realized that the flavor come out when it cooked!

Banana Pudding IV
This was a pretty easy recipe. I misplaced my Layered Banana Pudding recipe and this one came close. I misread the recipe and purchased 2 one oz packages of pudding. I just reduced the milk accordingly. I mixed it until it was somewhat fluffy. (I'm not sure that there is a 5 oz package of pudding.) Anyway it was pretty good. My husband loved it. My brother and nephew had some thought it needed more cookies and so did I. I'll put cookies in the middle of the pudding mixture next time. Otherwise it was really righ and yummy! I'm making it again this weekend with the proper amount of pudding and I'll add more cookies. Will report with update later.
