About this Cook
I love pretty much anything having to do with food :-) My husband and I live in the burbs with our funny/neurotic dog. We just bought our first house, and of course, the first change was a new oven!
My favorite things to cook
I will cook about anything, but I love sauces, for some reason. I feel like they really make or break a meal. I also love to grill now that we have a propane grill.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only one I can think of is that we always have a sweet-potato dish at Thanksgiving in honor of my grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph is getting my very picky husband to try new things. When we first got together, it was only hamburgers and pizza. Now he eats seafood, chicken, pork chops, broccoli, eeven curry. Some dishes I have been really proud of are: Irish Soda Bread (I can't bake), a creamy orzo dish that I made up, and honestly, my Chicken Fried Steak.
My cooking tragedies
Where to start??? I once made mac and cheese and put the cheese powder in the boiling water. I used to think Hamburger Helper was gourmet. I have yet to make a meatloaf that retains it's shape. I tend to burn the bottom of rolls.

Pumpkin Cookies I
These were fantastic! Baking time was around 13 minutes. Very tasty and moist. I loved the mix of the pumpkin and butterscotch.

Bratwurst, Potato and Cabbage Soup
Very good! I made it last night for a work function and just had to taste test it. I think my coworkers will love it! I was concerned with the lack of spices, but the cheese and bratwurst provide enough salt and flavor.

Impossible Pumpkin Pie II
This is exactly what I was looking for. I also used fresh pumpkin (roasted and pureed). I did use more seasoning than called for (2 tsp cinnamon, 2 tsp all spice, 1/2 tsp ginger). I also just used 1/2 can fat free evaporated milk and used heart healthy bisquick. Will be making this a lot this fall!!
