Mommy and her Girl
About this Cook
I am a stay at home mommy of two beautiful children. My son is 4 and my daughter is 1. My days are filled with a thousand questions (literally), diapers and if I'm lucky, a nice glass of wine and a one-on-one dinner with my wonderful husband! My passion for cooking didn't really bite me until after my son was born. Now I am hooked! I love to find new recipes and try to tweak them to make the meal as healthy and flavorful as possible, and making everyone want to come back for more. (or ask me for the recipe!!) When I was younger, I liked to watch my father cook and can say I got my style (not to mention messiness from him). We both throw in a little of this or that. My problem is then re-creating the recipe again. I found allrecipes and it helped "save" me. I now make notes to myself about what I add to any recipe so I can once again re-create it!!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook soups and stews. They are filling and can be so healthy. I'm going though a black bean soup and pimento cheese stage right now.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime my 4 year old son says "That's GREAT!!"
My cooking tragedies
There have been plenty. It's usually too salty or too spicy, but I'm a work-in-progress!!

Ed Zieba's Famous Family Pork Chops
This recipe has now been made many times and it is perfect everytime! I have used bone in thick cuts and boneless and they are all super moist and delicious. I do the recipe as written, and then the last few times have added a package of fresh mushrooms to it. Awesome!! Thanks SO much Ed for my go to, never-fail, pork chop recipe.

Flatlander Chili
Tried to rate this earlier today and something happened. Oops!! I have just made this chili for the 2nd time and this time I followed the recipe exactly as it was written except adding a chopped seeded jalapeno and letting it simmer for 3 hours. It was AWESOME!!! I made it last night (15 servings) for a football party and I made some changes as per the reviews. It is MUCH better tonight. Wonderful recipe! Thank you!

Broccoli Chicken Stir-Fry
This is now one of my families favorite "take out" at home recipes. It is not a stir fry, but is more like Chicken and Broccoli from our favorite Chinese restaurant. (Except mine is better!!) To cook the chicken, I use a few dashes of sesame seed oil mixed with some olive oil. When it is time for the veggies, I add a bit more sesame seed oil, an onion, sliced water chestnuts and canned mushroom slices along with the broccoli and carrots. I then add about a tablespoon or so of Szechuan Spicy Stir Fry Sauce and a few dashes of soy sauce. (And maybe some red pepper flakes) I am trying this with steak tonight, with beef bullion, so we shall see!!
