I am a middle school science teacher with 2 kids, ages 9 and 13, and a wonderful husband.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook with fresh ingredients from our farmers market. One pot meals are the best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My kids like to help with the cooking if there is time. During the summer the kids play a big role in cooking as I prefer to use fresh seasonal veggies.
My cooking triumphs
I just recently made a dish with chicken, quinoa, and an assortment of fresh veggies. My husband said it was my best meal yet!! The flavors really complimented each other. I was very proud of it because I didn't use any recipe.
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I were first married I tried so hard to cook fresh meals like the ones his mother cooked. One night I tried a recipe that had a gorgonzola cheese sauce. It was awful!!! We still laugh about that anytime we see gorgonzola on a menu. I haven't tried anything like it since, even though I'm a much better chef now.

Blueberry Strata
My kids liked it but my husband and I thought it was just ok. Too much cream cheese and the sauce was too sweet, both problems that are adjustable. I may play around with the recipe and try some of the suggestions offered by other reviewers.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad
very good base but it definitely needs some veggies and some salt and pepper.

Five Minute Ice Cream
Excellent!! I made it in the blender with 1 1/2 quarts of frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 1/3 cups heavy cream. It made 5-6 servings. After blending I put it in the freezer for about 2 hrs (until after dinner) and it was the perfect consistency. I could scoop it easily but it held its shape. Everyone loved it.
