About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry, fajitas, chili, wraps, pasta dishes (lasagna, spagetti, mac and cheese), chicken packets(chicken breasts and whatever veggies you have in the fridge topped with Olive Oil, Onion soup mix, salt and pepper; grilled until the chicken is done),
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother is the best pie maker I know. She always makes a pie every holiday - my personal favorite is her Pear Pie. My mom likes to serve un-holiday meals - with all the family gatherings serving turkey or ham with the traditional fixings, my mom and I search for new, interesting recipes to serve at holidays. Last christmas we had pork loin with cinnamon and sweet potatoes, salad and molten chocolate cake for dessert. It still had the familiar favors of fall/winter but with an interesting twist. My husband and I have started a small tradition where if one of us has something to celebrate, we make each others favorite dishes - I make him homemade lasagna and he makes me eggs and pancakes(even if it's dinner).
My cooking triumphs
Learning to do anything on a grill! I was always afraid that I would burn myself starting up the grill so my husband made me learn and now we grill practically everything. I have even learned how to make the perfect pork chop and grill corn not just flip burgers.
My cooking tragedies
I am not a baker at all! It isn't engaging enough for me so I tend to not watch the clock or the food and everything I bake is eitherburnt or undercooked. I have ruined many cakes, brownies, cookies and bread attempting to channel the baker in me.

Bacon Tomato Chowder
I love this soup! I won my works Recipe Olympics contest with this recipe. I love bacon so I add a couple more strips of bacon then listed in the recipe. It's super easy to prepare and is very filling on a cold South Dakota winter's night.

BLT Macaroni Salad
I thought this salad was very good. My husband loves macaroni salad so I made this for him and I ended up eating most of it. The bacon, celery and tomato compliment each other nicely. I left out the onion since I'm not a big raw onion fan but I added onion powder and chili powder for a little kick. I also left out the vinegar (I forgot to pick it up at the store) and it was still good. I will be making this recipe again!
