Sausage Gravy III

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
This was my first attempt every at sausage gravy and I've really only made gravy a few times before this. EASY though and delish! My husband said we will NEVER buy sausage gravy in a can again and I totally agree. The second time we made it we used hot sausage and made it over biscuits with omelets for breakfast - too die for! Thanks for sharing!

Easy Crab Linguine

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
Awesome! You wouldn't think it was easy because it is SO good! My hubby said it was a bit too garlicy for him - but I didn't think so. We've made it a couple of times now and delish every time! Thanks for sharing!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! This crust is the BEST homemade crust ever! We rarely get "take out" pizza since we really enjoy making our own. However, we've also tried lots of dough recipes and never really found one we love - well this is it dangit! EASY and absolutely fab! We typically (because we've made it several times now) do one pizza and one cheese bread - fantastic every time! Thanks, Jay, for ending our perfect pizza crust search!

Banana-Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
I have never made any sort of bread be it banana or zuccini. However I searched for a recipe because everyone seems to be giving us zuccini and we had a surplus of bananas. IT WAS SO GOOD AND EASY! My husband said it reminded him of being a boy sitting at his grandma's kitchen table - a very nice compliment as she is a great cook! I have since made this several times now as we still are getting lots of zuccini although I suspect that the givers of the zuccini just really like the bread in return! Thanks so much for giving me the confidence to try MORE baking - this bread was awesome and easy!

Fresh Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
I've been making a variation of this recipe for a couple of years now. I received the original recipe from my friend whose mother in law is spanish. I add garlic and a little bit of diced green peppers, pepper, and cumin (or cumin seeds). I've also used bottled lemon juice if I do not have fresh limes on hand. Do not add the seeds if you don't want it hot. I sometimes use jalapenos in place of serrano's (I have them on hand a lot) - don't use the seeds in them either unless you want hot! She also taught me that if you have any left over that's been sitting for a few days (or have "mealy" tomatoes) you can fry it up in a pan, put it in a jar in the fridge til it cools and it will get a consistency of a store bought jar of salsa. I've only done that once or twice because we rarely have any leftover - but it's equally as good! Thanks for sharing - I always have people asking me for the recipe and I actually don't have it wrote down anymore as I just make it by eyeing...now I can point them to your recipe. Fabulous! Thanks!

Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
We have made this exact recipe several times for ourselves and friends and it always gets fabulous reviews! It is a little time consuming so I make them early and put them in the fridge until ready to cook. I actually like the sharp cheese poppers as opposed to the cream cheese ones so the last time I made them with just sharp cheddar and they were awesome, too. Thanks so much for sharing something that I will never have to buy frozen and deep fry myself again!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Fantastic and easy! I usually do pigs in a blanket, wrapping each piece carefully with cabbage....looks nice but time consuming. This was a quick and easy - still delicious - casserole. Thanks for sharing!

Mom's Shrimp Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
We had cajun nigh in our house last night and picked this recipe. I was a little nervous because the ingredients seemed so, well, odd! But it was super fantastic! I added a little more tabasco and cayenne pepper. We also used giant shrimp and cut them up. AWESOME! Thanks for sharing :)

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
This was very good. Some of the reviews said it was too salty but I ended up adding a little more salt and pepper at the end. I followed the recipe exact but plan on using some of the reviewers suggestions next time. This one is a keeper - I had no idea salisbury steak was so easy! Thanks for sharing!

Loved it! Did not change a thing! My husband thought the blue cheese was just a touch strong so next time I'm going to mix up the feta and blue cheese for something different. Fantastic - thanks for sharing!

The potato wedges were good - we've made variations of them before. But the dip was awesome!! I added a little pepper and hot sauce the second time I made it. Very tasty! Thanks!

Deep South Fried Chicken

I thought as this was cooking that I would not like the taste. The smell of the shortening seemed overwhelming so that I thought the chicken would taste like it. WRONG! It was wonderful! My husband the fried chicken lover thought it was the bestest! Thanks for the sharing!

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This was very tasty but very rich - so you couldn't eat a large serving it was so filling and heavy! I followed the reviews and baked my bread before hand. Hubby said that he loved the meatball and sauce but would have just preferred the bread baked separately. I felt there was a little too much Italian Seasoning for our taste so next time I will cut that in half. Other than that, I thought it was a great recipe that we will just make some variations to for our family. Thanks for sharing!

Stuffed Shells with Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Yummy! I have made this in the past and the recipe I had did not have egg in the shell mixture - that really helped them stay intact. I was just shy of the 2 cups of mozerella so I added a 1/2 cup of feta. I also thought that there was going to be way too much sauce but continued to follow the recipe and it was just the right amount. Our family thought this was "the bomb"! Thanks!

Mom's Best Meatloaf

Very tasty and moist. I did part beef and part ground pork so it ended up being probably closer to 2 lbs so I had to cook it longer. Fantastic taste - loved the topping! Thanks!

Grandma's Crispy Pork Wontons

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
These were fantastic! I did substitute per what I had on hand - I used salad shrimp and put it through the food processor with all of the ingredients. I also cooked it in a pan with peanut oil and used only half the amount of oil and only about 2 minutes til' done. We loved them - thanks for sharing!
