About this Cook
I'm Liz, and I'm currently a senior in college. I've always enjoyed cooking, but have only recently started to branch out beyond just baking cookies.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything and everything with cheese (I am from Wisconsin after all), but my favorites are appetizers, bar foods and snacks. I have also taken an interest in French cooking, which I'm sure my boyfriend will be subjected too quite a bit in the future.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking tradition has always been Thanksgiving morning. My older sister and I still get up early and make breakfast and watch the parades. When the prep-work for dinner is in full swing, and the house starts to smell like Thanksgiving.. that's the best!
My cooking triumphs
I decided to celebrate Bastille Day last year and made a couple kinds of crepes. I did a savory one with a chicken and mornay sauce filling that I created myself. They turned out awesome.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had any truly terrible cooking tragedies yet, but I'm sure my day will come.

Buttery Soft Pretzels
Have to admit, I'm usually cursed when it comes to dough recipes (can't make a biscuit to save my life), so I was a little nervous. But these turned out Amazing! The baking soda bath is key. I baked them at a lower temperature (around 420F) and liberally brushed on some melted butter halfway through. Fantastic served with a warm cream cheese dip. Will make again very soon!

Charleston Breakfast Casserole
What a fabulous, easy recipe. I did a half batch (8x8) and prepared the night before. As mentioned, a small batch still takes the full 40 minutes. I used an extra egg and the seasoned Texas Toast croutons, which worked great. My batch was a little bland, so I'll tweak the seasonings a little next time. But overall, it was awesome.

Corn Dogs
Great! I used this batter on mini hot dogs and they turned out really well. I'll definitely use this again, but will probably try adding a spoonful of honey (I like my breading a little sweeter). Awesome snack!
