About this Cook
Not much of a savant, but I have enthusiasm to spare! I come from the fabulous Family Tradition of cooking, where momma will always do it better than I or anybody else will ever manage, but nobody's really complaining about that now are they?
My favorite things to cook
Jewish soul food! Matzoh ball soup, challah bread, and potato latkes when the cool weather sets in. Simple healthy recipes that include the interesting superfoods, like pumpkin and beans. Anything with avocados, anything from a slow cooker, anything with minimal prep time. I love homemade versions of the food you buy in the store - granola, pasta, even jam.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mandel bread and pot roast in the winter. Matzoh ball soup deserves a second mention. Nothing compares to the guilty pleasure of tollhouse cookies from a tube!
My cooking triumphs
Developed my own banana bread recipe at 15 - it's the most marvelous and moist loaf bread ever, truly!
My cooking tragedies
I have really bad luck with most baked goods - I tend to overcook them. I've burned more loaves of bread, pans of cookies, brownies and cakes than I'd like to mention...
