About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking big dinners. I don't really eat breakfast or lunch, but I relax when I cook. It's my time to do something I enjoy and I feel like it's an unselfish hobby because even though I'm taking time to myself, everyone else enjoys the rewards.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't have that many traditions, but we always sat down to eat dinner together whenever possible.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph is still finding out that I can cook. I never had any teaching, I just watch and can pretty much put a recipe together. I can make things after trying them without a recipe. And I enjoy coming up with my own variations of recipes and trying them out on my family.
My cooking tragedies
There have bee a few. I like to try new things, so sometimes there are just those nights when a dinner didn't work out. And a couple times I lost track of time and burned things.

Garlic-Roasted Chicken and Vegetables
I used this recipe for the first whole chicken I ever roasted. I love cooking and have only recently started trying new things. Both my boyfriend and I love garlic, so this was the obvious choice. I made it without the vegetables because I chosed to do stuffing and candied yams. The chicken was moist and full of flavor. We loved it. I would definitely make it again. The garlic gave the chicken such a wonderful, savory taste! It even made the chicken salad I made from the leftovers better!!!

Noodle Kugel
I've been looking for a recipe for noodle kugel forever!! My grandmother used to make it but she doesn't remember all the ingredients and amounts now. This was exactly how I remember it! The only thing I did differently was add golden delicious raisins mixed in, just the way grandma used to.

Seven Layer Taco Dip
I love taco dips, but find some of them too spicy for my taste. With this recipe I was able to alter it to my taste by using mild salsa and mild taco seasoning. I also added a layer of ground beef over the refried beans that I made with taco seasoning as well. My boyfriend and I also like soft tacos, so I make the "dip" with the ground beef and then serve it with warm flour tortillas and spanish rice. That way everyone can put as much stuff in their soft tacos without 40 plates on the table.
