About this Cook
I love to cook, just wish I had more time. I've learned a lot from my mom & sister...both excellent cooks. My 21-year old son & I have very different schedules, but our favorite times together are when I cook & he enjoys.
My favorite things to cook
I like to make things that are different & new. My friend just visited Thailand & Laos where her daughter lives & so now we have a new challenge. We had authentic sticky rice (balls) recently. She also bought an interesting type of grill which will be fun to play with.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner: smoked turkey or deep fried...both very good, company casserole, baked beans (mom's easy recipe), buttery pan rolls, twice baked potatoes...mmmm. Christmas dinner: Usually prime rib...easy...but expensive...but most of all I think about my grandma's sugar cookie recipe, my mom's filled cookies, etc. Grilling out in the summer....good family fun.
My cooking triumphs
My apple pie...my brother-in-law likes it best.
My cooking tragedies
Not so good at biscuits...anyone have a good no-fail recipe. Mine turn out like hockey pucks.

Frozen Berry Fluff
We really like this stuff...my grandma made it every Christmas when I was growing up. I prefer it with cherry pie filling.

Apple, Carrot, Or Zucchini Cake
I like this and have been eating it for breakfast. I tried it with 2 cups of zucchini & 1 cup of apples & used some applesauce & 1/4 cup of oil & cut way back on the sugar about 1 1/4 cups brown sugar. It turned out almost too moist...so next time I might add a little more flour...but really has a lot of great flavor. I want to try the carrots next time. Thanks for the base of a great recipe.

Taco Pie
This was pretty good. My son thought it had too much sour cream and I had used only 3/4 of what it called for. So I guess I would cut down on that next time. Depends on how much you like sour cream. Overall it was good, quick & easy.
