Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
FANTASTIC! Don't leave them to cool in the fridge too long. I had to leave the dough on the counter for a good hour to "warm up" so it was pliable again. Another reviewer said she rolled the dough into balls & then refrigerated. I will be doing it that way next time. My cookies were quite small and I ended up with 96 cookies. I only baked them for 6-7 min. I used knockoff after eights cut into quarters. They turned out fabulous. I also sprinkled them with green coloured sugar(which I made with white sugar, green food colouring smooshed up in ziploc bag). They did not flatten out like other reviewers said there's did. This will be a Christmas cookie staple in my house from now on.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
Turned out fantastic! I had to use up the remains of a chicken I had cooked for supper the day before, so I used the bones to make the broth,(used 5 cups broth) and remains of the meat instead of chicken breast. I also used 5 slices bacon and increased the potatoes to 6 instead of three. Instead of half and half I only had homo milk, so, as another reviewer suggested, I used a tbsp of cornstarch mixed with a bit of cold water to thicken it up. Turned out fantastic and was even better the next day for lunch.

Homemade Apple Cider

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
Tastes great! As soon as the apples and water came to a boil I reduced the heat to low and covered for at least 3 hours. I also added a few whole cloves to the pot. update: I'm making this again....sort of. I am trying it this time without spices and sugar to make juice for my kids. ( mother-in-law has apple tree and I am trying to use them up )I have never canned before, so I am going to freeze is ice cream containers.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
I used my breadmaker for the dough. It mixed up nicely, but I did need to add more water. I only needed to cook them for 6 minutes. My husband said they tasted great and thats good enough for me. I just made these again(2nd time in a week lol). They were a bit big the first time for my 3 small children. So I made 24 smaller ones and cooked them for about 5 min. a pan. I sprinkled sesame seeds on half of them instead of the salt. Both are good, but I like the salt better. I also used only a 1/4cup baking soda and 2 cups water.

The Best Potato Salad

Awesome! I had no relish, but used my mini chopper to finely chop a few pickles, and was out of mustard, so I used mustard powder.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
they are soft. Not my favorite chocolate chip recipe. Kids had fun making them. But I am curious about what they would taste like with different kinds of pudding. I will make them again. Also, I only used half the amount of choc. chips (since mine were the mini ones) and found it to be plenty enough.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Totally bland. I only used this recipe because I couldn't find the recipe booklet that came with my magic bullet. I ended up using pepper, at leave 5 more cloves of garlic and more parm cheese. I blend it all in my magic bullet, then take off the top and microwave for a minute, then blend, then microwave and so on until I get smooth consistency. My kids did like it though.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
I really liked this recipe because it was very easy. Like another viewer, I added a healthy dose of white wine to the mix. I did find the butter overkill, but next time I will totally use the butter for a quick sauce over pasta.

Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
O.k., so this chili was THE BEST EVER! I am making mine in the slow cooker. It will probably take forever to cook beacuse everytime I pass through the kitchen I lift the lid to have another taste. I didn't follow the recipe exactly though. I used all ground beef. I also added black beans, a can of corn, and mushrooms. But as far as the beer, coffee, sugar, and cocoa go, I'll be using them when I make chili from now on. Oh, I also only used a third cup of brown sugar, and found the amount to be perfect. I LOVE the sweet taste with the background of heat. I'm so excited about this chili that I can't stop typing about it!

Pretty good. I like my french toast soaked though, not just coated. So if you like them like that also, this recipe will work for about 6-7 regular slices of bread.

Good flavour! My chicken was smaller, but I still made the same amount of sauce. And if you love potatoes, like my family, add more. I used 4 large potatoes.....next time it'll be six.
