About this Cook
Im 29 years old, currently in school for my Master's Degree in Criminal Justice....hopefully I have one more year left!
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking dinner, that's when I try to mix things up a little bit. I recently realized I am not a very versitile cook, so I thought I'd better start trying out some new recipes and techniques!! so far, so good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
-Getting together with my family to form a "human assembly" line, making about 8 dozen pierogi (Polish Dumplings) for Christmas Eve -Helping my mom cook -Sunday bruches and cooking adventures -Tuesday night TV snack club
My cooking triumphs
I've become pretty good at tweaking recipes here and there, and inventing and perfecting some of my own recipes. A few months ago my cousin and I made some choco chip cookies and messed up the recipe at every turn..but they ended up tasting GREAT!
My cooking tragedies
I've melted plastic spatulas, had a Pyrex pan shatter into a million peices in the sink, cooked some very questionable turkey burgers, and I'm sure many many more to come!

Easiest Eggplant
this was good, and super easy to make. I liked that it called for mayo, instead of eggs or milk (I had none). I spcied up the mayo with some parm cheese, garlic, pepper, italian seasoning and cayenne pepper.

Chile Pork
This was really delicious....being from New Mexico, spicy pork is a really popular dish, I cant beleive I didn't think of this earlier. First off, I unfortunatley could not use tenderloin so I cubed some thick, bonless pork cutlets. I marinated them in the rub for about 2 hours. I added some lime juice, onion slices, and sliced, fresh/raw jalepeno for the extra spice kick (great idea for those who are looking for spice). I cooked it in a pan on med/low heat with a bit of oil for about 20 minutes. It came out so good...served with some tortillas, guac, and salsa! yumm

Applesauce Barbeque Sauce
As called for, I could see how this recipe would be really sweet. I actually flipped the apple sauce/ketchup measurements, so I had more ketchup than applesauce...plus I cut the sugar in half. I also added a few dashes of apple cider vinegar and chile powder. All in all it was great....I picked this recipe in particular especially because it called for applesauce, whereas most recipes call for water. This way, youre adding essential liquid AND flavor!!
