My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas time, my mother always baked up a storm! Now every year I look forward to making Chocolate Covered Coconut Rounds, Chocolate Oatmeal Fudge, Russian Tea Cakes, Buckeye Candies, Blackberry Jam Cake with Cooked Caramel Icing, Date Nut Bars, Peanut Butter Fudge, and cookies of all sorts! Our cabinets would be stocked to the brim with baking ingredients and we would have tons of leftovers to give away as gifts.
My cooking triumphs
My first loaf of bread was baked when I was 8 years old. I was so proud of how well it turned out. Moist and chewy on the inside, and crusty on the outside.
I baked my first pie when I was 12 years old. It was blueberry with a gorgeous flaky, buttery crust.
I've been experimenting with all types of cooking since I was a little girl and hope to have something come out of it one day.
My cooking tragedies
I made chicken salad and mistaked the nutmeg for poultry seasoning.
There's not been many tragedies that I can recall but I know that there have been times when a recipe just didn't turn out the way I thought it would. To me though, that is a tragedy.
