My father was a Chef, my mother was a Chef, I was a Chef. Now I am retired from it I am learning to cook for just the two of us. Seems we always have too much food and I have to invite friends for dinner all the time.
My favorite things to cook
One pot meals. Unless we hire a kitchen porter for our house. I hate cleaning up.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The food I grow up on was very varied, but the few time my parents cooked at home..this is the food I remember the most. My father was Polish with Hungarian mother. I love Sausages and saurkraut with good mustard. Any goulash or hunter stew. Mum was Britsh..and home cooking for her was banger and mash, Prime rib and yorkies and alway cabbage and root veg. I still thrive on the comfort foods of my youth.
My cooking triumphs
I live in Toronto, the most enthnicly diverse City in the world. We eat out a lot and I love trying to duplicate the dishes that we liked. It is great living in a City where you can actually find foods from around the globe on your doorstep.
My cooking tragedies
Boy, I've made lots of mistakes. Not that I would ever let any of them get to the table. I just chuck it out and start again. Anybody who says they always make good meals is probably using processed mixes!
