Feta Cheese Foldovers

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
I used seasoned feta cheese and found they came out super salty. I'm not sure if it's from the seasoning, or just feta cheese in general. I'm not sure I'd mix in the egg if I ever make them again.

Thai Pork with Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly and it was pretty bland. The peanut sauce took a long time to thicken. I also found the coating on the pork chops didn't add anything to the dish.

Cauliflower Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
I wanted this to be good. I really really did. However, mine never set after an extra 20 minutes. I eventually poured out about a tbsp of liquid (that's all that was left). The potatoes got soggy and didn't provide much of a "crust." I'm not sure where I went wrong or what I could do to improve it and will probably just never make again.

Foolproof Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
The can of condensed milk I found was only 300ml, so I reduced the chocolate chips to 2 cups. I also added in pecans, somewhere between 1/2 cup and a cup. I didn't measure. I thought it'd be really sweet, but it's not. At first I thought it actually wasn't sweet enough, but I like it more and more.

Popovers

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
Hmm, I think mine turned out right. They tasted good either way. It actually made 10 in my muffin pan. They didn't puff up as much as I expected (but I may have over stiffed them). However, they did have a neat crunchy outer coating and chewy insides. I'll make them again for sure. They reheat excellent in the oven. I stick them on a cooling rack placed in the middle and then turned the oven to 350. Give it about 5 minutes an they're back to be crunchy and warm.

Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
I give this a four, because mine didn't spread out much, which made it very hard for the topping to go between the pieces and instead stayed completely on top. I didn't have romano cheese, and so used blue cheese and panko on top. It still tasted pretty good, but I'll have to find a way to get it to spread out more next time.

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
I didn't have quite 3 cups of oats so I cut the butter down. I was going to do 3/4 cup, but then decided to go with 1/2 cup. Next time I'll try it with a bit more butter as it's a bit crumbly. I thought there'd be too much chocolate/peanut butter filling as it seemed like a lot for a small pan, but it tasted just right.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I made this with pork as I have a beef sensitivity. It turned out quite well, just a little too liquid-y and not incredibly flavorful. I'll have to add some other spices next time. Great basic recipe.

Peanut Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I found this was only okay. I did try to cut down the recipe as I was only making it for me. The taste was quite good, but the sauce was very thick. Next time I will water it down more.

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I made this exactly as specified. The batter is quite thick and once you mix in the chocolate chips and marshmallows I could hardly stir it and had to force it to the edges of the pan. It came out excellent though, and I cooked it for 24 minutes. It definitely needs to cool before you cut/eat as it falls apart if too warm.

Parmesan Knots

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars was that it turned out when i went to make it I was missing the main ingredient (parmesan cheese - I was so sure I had some) but they still turned out fairly awesome. I used butter with some minced garlic and dried oregano. I'm sure the cheese would've made these 5 stars for sure and I will make them again now that I've bought it.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I made a 3rd of this recipe in a 8x8 square baking pan. The only thing I found was that there was more sauce then needed and that the sauce was a little grainy. I think maybe this was because I stirred the sauce a couple of times while it was boiling as I was worried it was going to burn. Still it was excellent and devoured in no-time. I will make again for sure.

Kellogg's® Chocolate Scotcheroos

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
Since so many comments said they were very sweet I made them with 1/2 cup of sugar. I also used natural peanut butter (no sugar added) and they turned out perfectly. The only change I'll make next time is to make half the topping (1/2 cup butterscotch chips and 1/2 cup chocolate chips). I just felt there was a quite a lot on top.

Baklava

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out AWESOME! Everyone who tried it loved it. I cut the pieces before hand (but would make them smaller next time as it's so sweet) and made the sauce in advance. I forgot to read that you need to thaw the phyllo dough so that was interesting, but it all worked fine. I also probably only ended up using 1/2cup of butter. Not on purpose, but there was lots left over.

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

Excellent! I may even add more red pepper flakes next time as it wasn't that spicy. It makes quite a bit of marinade so you may be able to cut back some.

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
Following others suggestions we cut the sugar in half. However, next time I would cut out a lot of the oil too as it was very oily. It makes a lot of sauce compared to noodles so can probably cut it down lots. MADE AGAIN - I tried this again but cut the recipe to a quarter. I used: 2 garlic cloves, small pinch of sugar, 1 tsp canola oil, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, at least 1/2 tsp chili sauce (I like it spicy) and a couple of green onions. It was way less oily this time and didn't all gather on the bottom of the bowl but stayed on the noodles.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

The recipe calls for a lot more mayo then actually needed. I made slightly more than half the recipe, and used only 1/2 cup of mayo and it was plenty. Like other suggested, I used green onions.

Very good. Super simple and cooked in 30 minutes. Made them tonight to have with a chicken stew and got rave reviews from everybody. Only change I will make next time is less sugar as they're pretty sweet.

Pork-n-Beans Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Very interesting. I was looking for stuff to do to use up my baked beans and came across this and knew even if it turned out horrible I had to try it. It's actually really good. I used Heinz baked beans in tomato sauce. I ran out of white sugar, so it ended up being about 1.33 of white, and another third of brown. It made 4 mini loafs and 6 muffins. I was a little weary tasting it knowing what had gone in, but it's quite good. The rains are a good addition as well. It doesn't look like the main picture, but more like the ones other people have uploaded of a very light bread.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I didn't have everything to make this recipe (and I wasn't going to go buy stuff as I'm sick) but it still turned out well. I used 3 cans of chicken broth and two cans of water (about 284ml each). I cubed a chicken breast and cooked it in the broth. I didn't have egg noodles so used rainbow fusille. I also added mushrooms. I didn't have carrots which I'm sure would have helped with making the soup look brighter (it was very brown). Still tasted good, so I will probably use this basic recipe again.
