About this Cook
I am a working mom of three kiddos: 2 sons & a daughter. Married 9 years to a firefighter & wonderful man. Love to entertain guests and keep my family's bellies full and happy!
My favorite things to cook
I love a challenge - we love all kinds of food and I love to try new ideas and styles. Our oldest son is Autistic so I keep our food totally natural, organic if budget allows.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baklava at Christmas! Creme Brulee French Toast for each birthday breakfast. Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup every two weeks and for any sickness.
My cooking triumphs
I prepared and hosted a full five course dinner for my parent's 30th anniversary for 30 people! I learned to cook in a foriegn country with no labels on the spices at the market - had to rely on my nose.
My cooking tragedies
While I was pregnant I tried a new recipe for a low-fat chicken pot pie. I didn't even sample it because of a sick stomach. I served it to 15 people at a pot-luck to my GREAT EMBARASSMENT! It was horrible... Lesson learned: NEVER serve an untried recipe to a group!

Overnight Caramel Pecan Rolls
I made this yesterday for Easter. These were the hit of Easter brunch! I didn't wait for them to rise overnight - just let them double rise and baked them. They were perfect, sticky, gooey, and SOOOO tasty (not to mention beautiful). Thanks for a super-keeper recipe.

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations
Thank you for posting this recipe! We have allergies to dyes and preservatives which pretty much cuts out all box mixed cakes. I just tried the yellow cake recipe (I did use oil instead of shortening and added 1 tsp. of hazlenut flavoring). It is so good. My sons helped me put the recipe together and have been virtually orbiting our kitchen waiting for the go ahead to dig in! It is a recipe I will probably print and place on my fridge for frequent use! Thanks again from a mom who wants to "let them eat cake!"

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
Our household has a strict diet that contains no preservatives - so I had to get creative with the ingredients that I added to make this recipe...but it was absolutely fabulous. All the men in my life (my husband, my dad, & my sons) were smaking their lips and licking fingers (and so was I!). I added a can of organic chicken soup, organic mushroom gravy mix, a little soy sauce (to give it a little saltiness and color), and two tablespoons of minute tapioca (to make-up for not having condensed soup). It was truly a wonderful meal - the gravy was super over mashed potatoes. Thanks for this one!
