Deluxe Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
First of all, I had no onion salt...so I did 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp onion powder. Also, reading the reviews about it being bland, I tasted it & added some extra onion powder, seasoning salt, and garlic plus. I also stirred in some bacon bits...Then topped it with cheese about 10 minutes before it was done. They were pretty good...but not really anything special. Especially for all of the extra calories/fat. Nice for a change, but don't expect to impress.

Absolutely Delicious!!!! The sauce was a little sweet, so next time I will try 3/4 C. Sugar + 1/2 C. Brown Sugar & see how that goes. An easy, delicious dessert for any time!!! It is wonderful as is...I will just try to cut a bit of unnecessary sugar next time. try it-you will love it!!

Copper Carrots

For a bag of baby carrots: Double the recipe & use a tiny bit less orange juice. I did use the parsley. A nice change to regular baby carrots, but not spectacular.

I followed some of the other reviewers suggestions & changed the following: -Used 3 & 1/3 C. Flour -1 C. Salted Butter (Not margarine) -1 C. White Sugar + 1 C. Icing Sugar (Instead of 1 & 1/2 C. White Sugar) -Dusted the countertop with Icing Sugar (Instead of flour) -Baked at 350 for about 9 min Delicious!!! (Didn't even need frostig)

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Here's what I did: Sprayed the pan first; Melted the butter & poured it in the pan, added the graham cracker crumbs. Then I added a little more than 1/2 the can of Eagle Brand, until the bottom was covered. Then I added Choc & Butterscotch Chips & Coconut (No nuts). Press everything down with a fork, Then drizzled the rest of the Eagle Brand on top & bake. **I feel that it is missing something & it's not the nuts. Maybe it's just that the butterscotch chips didn't really melt. Maybe next time, I will add a little less Butterscotch & a litte more Chocolate** It is VERY good though & super easy (Only like 5 min of prep!!!)

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
Very good!!! I filled a Ziploc baggie with jam & cut a hole at one of the corners & piped the jam in (No Mess!!), chilled the cookies (with the jam inside) for about 10 min before baking...and used a cookie scoop to make the cookies...only giving me 27 cookies. Also, my first batch, I waited about 5-10 min before glazing the cookies & it melted/didn't look so pretty. The second batch, I waited almost an hour before glazing them, and they looked much nicer. Very yummy!!! (A 5-Star with these changes!!)

So Easy & So Tasty!! This was my first time making applesauce. I used about 4 & 1/2 Red Delicious Apples, 3/4 C. Water, 3 & 1/2 Tbsp. Sugar, and Eyeballed The Cinnamon. Very Good!!

Apple Dumplings II

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
This is what I did: Made the dough the night before, cut into 6 squares, layered them between layers of parchment paper, refrigerated overnight. Took them out of the fridge about 20 min before using. The next day, I made the sauce (Using Margarine, instead of Butter...and No Food Colouring), then I made the apples, using margarine instead of butter. Delicious Recipe!! Tip: I had a hard time getting my dough to be 12x18, so I rolled it as big as I was comfortable with, then I cut it into 6 squares. Then, I rolled each square out 1 at a time, and made them as big as I could. Much easier!

Awesome Recipe! I've never made a sugar cookie glaze before...but this was easy, quick & tasty. I added about 4tsp. of milk though. Thanks for the awesome recipe!! I was looking for something to use for Wedding Cookie Favors & I think I found it!

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
Very good...Made it exactly as written. At first, it didn't seem quite sweet enough, but then I considered the fact that we would be dipping sweet fruit into it, so I didn't change it. After about an hour in the fridge, it tasted delicious!! Don't change a thing...it's perfect as is!

Didn't use sesame seeds because I didn't have any....Used 1 & 1/2 tsp. salt & 1/2 tsp. garlic salt; added a bit of garlic powder & onion powder & then sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Plain tasting, so sprayed with Butter Flavored Cooking Spray, sprinkled parsley, onion & garlic powder & parmesan. Better...but still not amazing. Very plain-tasting. Served with Baked Potato Soup (From This Site) & a Fresh Salad with chopped veggies in it. Next time, I will load up on the flavorings before rolling out

Poppy Seed Dressing I

Very similiar to a recipe that I already use: 1/2 C. Miracle Whip (Doesn't have to be Fat-Free) 2 Tbs White Vinegar 1/4 C. Sugar 1/4 C. Milk 1 Tbs Poppy Seeds Salad: 1 Head of green leaf lettuce, washed & cut 1 Container Strawberries, washed & Hulled OR Raspberries OR Mixed Berries (My favourite is Strawberries) 1 Red Onion, cut into "O"s (Optional: Mandarin Oranges, drained) Mix together. Add dressing right before serving, otherwise it will be soggy. SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
I used 3/4 C. Butter (Instead of 1 C) & 1 3/4 C. Hershey's Mini Kisses Baking Chips (Instead of 1 & 1/2 C. Semisweet Baking Chips). I had a hard time smoothing out the peanut butter mixture, so I took a piece of parchment paper, placed it over the mixture & pushed down & smoothed it out. As I was melthing the chocolate over the saucepan, I put the peanut butter mixture in the freezer for about 5 min. After I poured the chocolate on top, I let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes until it set. Then I cut it into squares & popped it back in the freezer for about 10 min. Then I scooped the squares out & enjoyed! It was a BIG hit. My mom loves Reese's PB Cups, but doesn't like sweets, and she ate about 4-5 squares herself!!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I made my own batch of cookie dough the day before, scooped it into balls & froze it overnight. I used Chocolate (Devil's Food) Cake Mix & Homemade Buttercream Icing (That I usually use for cakes & cupcakes). The cookie dough was not dry, it was good...but possibly a bit overrated. These cupcakes ARE good...but not quite as amazing as they were made out to be. Maybe one day I will try vanilla cake mix...or even the other recipe (Using brownie Mix instead of the cookie dough). Very good...just not AMAZING. Thanks lovestohost, for a nice variation. (I made the golf pull-apart cake with this recipe. Will post photo soon)

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
Doubled the recipe, but only used enough lemon juice for a single batch (Only had 2 lemons, and it wasn't enough, apparently). Overall, it was very good! UPDATE: I made it exactly as written, using a large pack of stewing beef that I softened with my meat tenderizer. I poured the marinade over it & let it sit for about 30 min. Then I made Shish-Kebabs with it. I ised 1 large pack of stewing beef, 1 red pepper, 1 green pepper, and 1 red onion. It made 22 delicious shish-kebabs!!

Fluffy White Filling

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
I used icing sugar, as the other reviewers said it was grainy with white sugar. Took a while to get fluffy, but once it did, it was good. (It WILL look gross for a while, during mixing). Not a strong flavour-will maybe try more vanilla, or try almond extract next time. Overall, a good filling...as long as you don't use white sugar. Next time I will add cocoa powder, to try it as chocolate filling. UPDATE: I tried to make chocolate filling, following the instructions, but adding 1/4 C. Cocoa Powder (Along with the Icing Sugar), and substituting Chocolate Milk for the Evaporated Milk....and what a waste of ingredients!!!! It would only separate...it wouldn't come together at all!!! It slid right off the beaters. Disgusting!! Will never make again!!!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
In order to be able to spread the icing on a cake without it leaking everywhere, I had to use 6 C. Icing Sugar & 1 Tbsp. Flour, instead of the 2 C. recommended. Lovely taste...but there's a big difference between 2 C. & 6 C. of Icing Sugar...so I only gave it 3 stars. It's a 5 star with the changes-and refrigerate before using.

Doubled the sauce but used 8 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce + 2 Tbsp. water instead of soy sauce. Also, used 1/2 Apple Juice cocktail, and 1/2 Water; Added 2 Tbsp. Minced garlic & a dash of ginger. Used 1 bag fresh california stir-fry veggies & 3 handfuls fresh green beans. Cooked veggies for 2 min & added 2 sliced cooked steaks & sauce. Next Step: Try white wine instead & soy sauce. Also, will add fresh mushrooms & peppers.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Excellent brownies!!! I had just under the suggested amount of cocoa powder (1 C), but it didn't make a difference...they were really good. Also, I used 1 C Milk Chocolate Chips, instead of semisweet, because of what I had on hand. I used a 9x13 pan, and they were a good height. I also drizzled them with caramel cake filling, and they were amazing!! This was my first time making brownies from scratch. 3RD Time Making Them: Used 2 C. Sugar, 1 C. Golden Brown Sugar...did not make any other substitutions. As always, delicious!!!
