Bourbon Street Rib-Eye Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
It was a flavorful marinade and if you enjoy bourbon whiskey you will love the flavors. I would use more sugar next time as I like mine more on the sweeter side.

Roasted Red Pepper Soup

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
This was fabulous. It should be modified into a pasta sauce it is sooo good. I used the Italian herb mixture as well as just a tad of cream, not too much. I took the hint from the other cooks. I also omitted the mushrooms simply because I am not crazy about them. This was great with grilled cheese sandwiches or even tuna sandwiches which is what ended up happening for the next two days. I am eating the rest now and cannot believe how good this is! Not to mention easy to make.

Peanut Butter Cupcakes

Reviewed: May 15, 2009
These were tasty. They did not rise for me and looked flat. The bottoms of my cupcake liners did look greasy. The taste however was really good and it was simple to make. Maybe I will use baking powder next time?

Lasagna Stuffed Shells

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
This was a good dish but I made some changes. I added my jar sauce as well as a small can of tomato sauce. I added carrots and fresh garlic, minced. The shells were filled with the cottage cheese, eggs and parm as directed but I did not like it as much. I used cottage cheese for the mostacciolli bake and that turned out well. I think the next time I make it will be with ricotta cheese instead. Other than that it was a tasty pasta dish. A decent variation of lasagna.

Shrimp Tempura

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
Wow, wow, and wow. Did I say wow. This recipe I tried for mothers day and my father actually ate up most of the shrimp. This tasted like the tempura at any restaurant. It was an excellent batter. I soaked the shrimp as directed. I also made two bowls of the batter so I used one to dip sweet potatoes and onions in. Wow again. It was fantastic. This one is a keeper.

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
This was a tasty dish. I used another can of broth and a cup of water. I wanted more servings out of it. I used my left over roasted chicken from the night before. The dough was perfect and very easy to make. If you are not using the extra water and broth it yields a lot of dough. The only reason I did not give it five stars is the spices. My man had to add spices while eating it, but he loves spicy things.

Aloo Phujia

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
This dish was easy to make and flavorful. My man thought it could use some more flavor. I added the exact amount of spices it called for but apparently I needed more. I thought it had kind of a curry flavor to it and it was good. I give it a 4 star but my man gives it a 3.

Cajun Shrimp Orecchiette

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
A fantastic dish. I loved the flavors it was light and delicious. I made the mistake of using frozen shrimp. This can be chewy. Definatly use fresh when you can. I love the flavor of the oreccheitte pasta. I buy delallo pasta as it is the only one I can get that is orecchiette in my local market but it has great flavor. I never thought it made a difference with what pasta I bought but it does.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
This was very good. We like spicy in our house so I am very liberal with the red pepper flakes. Like everyone else I double the sauce. I also add some chinese noodles to the dish at the very end. I make it in my wok and it is wonderful.

No Bake Bumpy Peanut Butter Nuggets

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This is an easy one to make. The colder it gets the tastier it gets. So make sure you bite into them when they are at least in the fridge overnight. I loved the flavors with the cinnamon, wheat germ, and of course peanut butter. I love peanut butter but it wasn't "complete heaven" good that's why it didn't make the 5 star rating. It is a nice thing to make with your kids. That is if they can wait overnight to enjoy them.

Mostaccioli Bake

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I loved this bake. I never missed the meat at all. The spinach really added to the flavors and surprise of all surprises the cottage cheese was so much better than using ricotta cheese. I will make sure to use cottage cheese all the time now for my lasagna recipes. This is a fantastic dish and a pleasant break from any meat.

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
This was excellent. I made these for my man who is a big granola bar fan. He loves the playgroup bar recipe but these were just as good. For me it was easier to make. The condensed milk was the only liquid. I made it with 1/2 cup of peanut butter chips and 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips. I also used peanuts instead of almonds. I used did raisins in place of cranberries. It all worked out great. Granola bars are so easy to improvise with whatever you like. The condensed milk was fat free but you would never know it. I am not sure this batch will last the weekend. Yummy!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Who needs the blueberries? This one sure doesn't. It was so good. I have been a bisquick user for many years and although it is decent it does not compare with this recipe. It was deemed "the best pancakes I have ever eaten" by my man. It was so easy, and no need to wait that hour. It must make it better somehow but I have never waited that long to try it. This beats anything you get at a restaurant!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Wow only brown sugar and ham who would have thought. It was very good and added so much flavor. It does take a lot of brown sugar but seeing as it is the only other ingredient besides the ham itself it makes sense. I have tried so many other ham recipes with liquor, without, mustard, you name it. This one is a keeper.

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
This is a great banana cake recipe. I used a 9x12 pyrex pan greased and it came out great. The cake itself probably needs no frosting although I did frost mine. If you are a fan of banana breads this is a good one for you to try.

Teriyaki Sauce and Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
This was a very good teriyaki sauce recipe. I did use low sodium soy sauce as the only kind I buy. The flavor was not too salty and it was easy to make. The only problem was finding the rice wine or Mirin. I would make this again definatly.

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Wow this one is a keeper. The flavors of the cinnamon as well as the red wine and beef bouillon made this dish great. Of course the half and half didn't hurt anything either. It was hearty and fairly easy to make. I plan on making it again real soon.

The Best Meatballs You'll Ever Have

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
I loved this recipe but I did make some changes. I added some blue cheese that I had left over and instead of the croutons I used panko. It was delicious. I do feel the cheese helped with the flavor. I will try it the next time sans cheese. Again, fabulous recipe. Who would want to buy those pre made meatballs when they are so easy to make.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
This recipe is wonderful! My man has granola bars almost every morning for breakfast. These are filling and so much yummier then anything you can get from a box. The recipe is so versatile. You can add any kind of nuts you want as well as peanut butter and all sorts of things you can think of. It stays moist which is key. I cannot thank the wonderful cook enough for submitting this recipe. No more boxes of granola bars, this one has them all beat!

Tomato Bisque III

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Tasty soup and yes easy to make. I would not add the nutmeg as it was all I tasted it seems. I put the right amount but it seemed to not "go" with the flavor. My boyfriend said it needed to be more tomato like in flavor. I give it four stars because of the ease in making and it was good, but with no nutmeg. Some might think it might add depth to the flavor. I did not think so.
