Hey I was trying to look for some recipes for a dip that does not contain mayonnaise or cream cheese.  I did find some but I wanted something with yogurt and a little more healthful.  I know all you cooks out there always come up with ideas and answers.

I recently made this dip -http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Kendras-Creamy-Leek-Dip/Detail.aspx which you could easily substitute in yogurt. It went over well with friends!

1 cup plain yogurt 3 tablespoons mayonnaise 2 tablespoons chives, chopped 2 teaspoons olive oil salt and pepper to taste Directions In a medium bowl put 3 tablespoons mayonnaise and add 1/4 of the yogurt, mix well. Add the rest of the yogurt mixing well to avoid lumps. Add olive oil, chives, and salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate until serving. Enjoy! I submitted this recipe but it is still in review, I love it because you can use lower fat ingredients.. the olive oil is a must, the mayo gives it thickness but you can leave it out.. its soo good!

I have found that using "Greek style plain yogurt works very well in any dip mix...it is thick and creamy. Most health food type stores carry it, i.e. Trader Joe's, Henry's (here in Calif.) You don't have to drain it like other yogurts to get that thick creamy, sour cream type consistency.

About Me
I miss Hawaii and all the local kine foods. I would love to enjoy a manapua again. I have learned to cook by trial and error but the day I found allrecipes.com was the starting point to becoming a better cook. The recipes are amazing and I have learned so much. It has made me love cooking special dinners and if you ever have that thought "what am I going to cook for dinner?" just go to allrecipes and you shall find! I always do and within five minutes. I have a good man and five cats to look after. I pet sit for a living and love every furry second of it.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking meals that are tasty and that you can make in about 30 minutes from start to finish. I enjoy baking desserts as I am a sugar fiend. I try my best to keep myself in check so the people at my boyfriends workplace love me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes the best chicken long rice which is an asian dish that I wish I could make taste like hers.
My cooking triumphs
A really good lasagna that I have made before with just about the same ingredients but the magic happened with one particular batch. It will never happen again.
My cooking tragedies
There have been many. I try not to make guests suffer through "first attempts" at something. It has to be tried first with me and my guy as the guinea pig. You have to eat a lot of not so good meals for the title "Good Cook" I learned that the hard way.
