About this Cook
Married, five children, ten grandchildren. Retired with plenty of time to cook, clean and garden. Grew up in the seafood capitol of the world, Crisfield, Maryland. I love seafood! Enjoy sharing with other people and learning their trade secrets. Enjoy
My favorite things to cook
Baked deserts, quick and easy recipes. Fried and baked meat and seafood dishes. Southern traditional dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional holiday meals with the whole family together.
My cooking triumphs
My mom made the best lemon meringue pie, baked custard, and peach cake. I've gotten close and that makes them triumphs to and for me.
My cooking tragedies
Anything that comes up short because I didn't pay attention to detail causing that recipe to fail.

Best Ever Pie Crust
I really like this recipe the best,I only made one minor change.I use 1/2 cup Crisco shortening and 1/2 cup butter, this slight change makes it good to great!

Fruit and Cream Pie I
This is a fast, good tasting desert. If you close your eyes and taste, you might think your having strawberry shortcake. I made mine using the Best Ever Pie Crust Recipe and it worked out very well. i

Classic Stuffed Turkey
Made a special dinner for my son home for spring break from State College. Believe me he was shocked, it turned out awesome. I'm brand new at the table when it comes to cooking, about a month. So far with only a couple mistakes, every dish and desert have been very good and fun to make. I'm learning to read carefully and to pay close attention to detail and stay focused. I used an oven roaster chicken 8lbs, I bought on sale at the local market @ .88 cents per pound. I cut the recipe in half. I made a few changes at the suggestion of my wife, the former cook in our home for 45 years.Added 1 peeled, chopped Jonagold apple. Added 1/2 teaspoon more McCormick poultry seasoning. Added 1/4 teaspoon McCormick Worcestershire black pepper. Added 1 egg beaten. Ditched the mushrooms. Keep in mind I cut the recipe in half. I really like the reviews they add confidence and insight to my new found hobby in cooking. My up coming meals will be Chicken Pot Pie IX and homemade Chicken Soup. That chicken at .88 cents a lb. will sure go a long way.
