Ziti with Tomato-Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
Not much of a recipe as far as recipes go! But definitely a step up from opening a jar of spaghetti sauce. Tasty with the addition of the pesto, quick and easy. Add a salad and garlic toast and voila dinner.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
My husband loved this, and I wasn't overly impressed, so I rated it in between his 5 and my 3. Easy to put together, smells delicious, has quite a bit of kick. But I must agree it is "soupy". Sorry, no factor for me!

Super Scrambled Eggs Number One

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
I usually don't need a recipe for scrambled eggs, but wanted to use my camera. So, I made this recipe as written, but cooked the minced onion with the bacon. Also used seasoning salt instead of the salt and pepper. These are really, really good. DH said I had out done myself this time. A keeper in his books.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I'm not sure why I waited so long so make these, but better later than never. Delicious! The rating and reviews say it all. I did invert my pan into another 9 x 13 after they had finished baking. Plus based on several reviews turned my oven down to 375* and slightly undercooked. Thanks, Marsha!!

Tuna Noodle Supreme

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Tuna Noodle Casserole = comfort food, and this recipe did not disappoint. Cheesey, creamy, full of flavour, not to mention easy to make. I did make some minor modifications based on other reviews. I used 1 cup of sour cream and 1 cup of mayo, and rotini pasta because that is what I had on hand. otherwise everything stayed the same. Will definitely be making this recipe again. Thanks, Ellen!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
A nice change for pork chops. Quick and easy, but double the sauce. The cook time for the chops is a bit off. Mine were quite a bit thinner and they took at least 15 minutes to cook. I didn't transfer the cooked chops to the oven because I didn't want them to dry out. Instead I made the apples and sauce in a smaller skillet while the meat cooked. Thanks for the great recipe, Karena!

Sweet As Kisses Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
A light, simple, and very easy to make dessert. Made as written and it turned out perfectly. Cut while frozen and allow to defrost for about 10 minutes or so before serving. Will definitely be making this one again trying different pie fillings.

Scored Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
The recipe has a lot of potential, but as written it is just your average roasted potato with a bit less work. Definitely needs more seasoning and additional baking time for crispiness.

We loved this, even DH who thinks a main course should be loaded with meat. Quick, easy, and very flavorfull. No changes needed here. Thanks for the recipe!

White Bread For The Bread Machine

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Fantastic! Made was written, however I decided to bake in a conventional oven at 350* for approximately 30 minutes. A light, fluffy bread, with a lovely golden brown crust. Thanks Diana for the terrific recipe.

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
A definite crowd pleaser. Made as written, but added very finely diced onion between the layers. Will certainly be making again trying some different variations with the cheeses. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Barbecue Beef Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
These were okay, but nothing to write home about. I can see where they would be a big hit with young children and they are fairly quick and easy. I tried to bring them up a level by using sauteed onion, celery and green pepper. Another reviewer suggested a pizza version and will maybe try again with this in mind.

Tossed Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
I have made a variation of this salad for a number of years. The celery is a nice addition for some crunch and rather than using green onion I used finely diced white onion. Shredded mozzarella and ranch or creamy poppyseed dressing works well for a change up. Thanks, Myra!

Asian Flank Steak Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
This is a great basic stir fry sauce - full of flavor, yet doesn't mask the taste of the meat and veggies. I didn't use the cornstarch or salt, nor feel either a really necessary. Also I had a surplus of fresh veggies on hand so used onion, broccoli, zucchini, red and yellow peppers. Will definitely be making this again, using different meats or seafood, and what veggies I have at the time. Cashews would be a nice addition as well.

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
Wow, these are the best, fluffiest, and tastiest pancakes going. Made as written and no changes necessary. A word of warning - this recipe makes a lot of pancakes. Also I would use real buttermilk rather than the substitute. Thanks for the recipe!

Camp David Spaghetti with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Oh yeah! One of the best spaghetti sauces I've found yet. Hearty, flavorful, yet not an overpowering tomato base. Made as written except I did use an additional 3 links of Italian sausage. Like other reviewers, I sliced the sausage into small meatballs and didn't remove the casings. Next time I'll use fresh basil and oregano, but used dried since this is what I had on hand. Five minutes in the oven at 350* to melt the fresh parmesan cheese was perfect. Thanks hungryguy for this amazing recipe!!

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
By far the best steak marinade I've found yet. Followed the recipe to a tee, even though some reviewers thought there was too much lemon. It is tasty, yet doesn't over power the flavor of the meat. No changes needed here!! Thanks Kookie, an awesome recipe.

Trail Mix Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
Very good. Followed the recipe to a tee, only used raisins rather than the cranberries. I only got 20 cookies out of this recipe since I decided to make a larger cookie. Also, I flattened them slightly with a fork and unbaked so they would be chewy. Definitely a keeper, with so many possible variations. Thanks, dancer7889!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
Wow, this recipe is fabulous! I love the combination of salmon with a sweet delectable sauce and this rates right up there. In order to make this a wee bit healthier, I used garlic powder rather than the salt and I'm glad I did. There is enough sodium in the soy sauce without the addition of any more. I also feel real maple syrup is a must. Thanks Starflower - a fantastic recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
Quick and easy, but way too salty. Next time, I would use low sodium cream of chicken soup, and either half of the Italian style dressing mix or Italian seasoning. Saltiness set aside, the sauce is wonderfully creamy, thick and rich.
