I am married and a mother of 4 boys with big appetites. I have 7 grandchildren. I really enjoy cooking. I work in a grocery store and get ideas from customers and they ask me for advice. My coworkers love it when I bring in new recipes. I used to bring in a full meal on Thursdays for the crew.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are Mexican or Italian main dishes or desserts of all types.
My favorite family cooking traditions
People thing I'm crazy but at Thanksgiving I make about 10 different desserts. There is always the traditional ones, the newer types picked up over the years and then always have to try something new. There are more desserts than people. Great leftovers.
My cooking triumphs
I think what I cook the best or seems to be everyones favorite is the General Tsaos Chicken on this site. Made a few changes but everyone comes over when I make this. It has become a favorite in my sisters home too.
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure there have been a few or even many but the one that comes to my mind and my husbands when you ask about cooking tragedies would be when I made a banana cream pie with meringue which everyone usually loves but it was the first time for me to use cream of tarter in my meringue and it sure looked beautiful(fluffy..perfect) until we tasted it and I had forgotten the sugar. I have never forgetten the sugar since. So we do learn from our mistakes.
