Black Forest Cake I
About this Cook
I'm a young 20-something musician. I freelance on steel pan and percussion, teach lesson, and even sell crafts online! I'm married and started cooking out of necessity.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking the most. I like to bake muffins, cookies and bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making cookies every christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I started cooking every night to save money. I work at home and have a lot more free time than my husband, who used to cook a lot. I used to be horrible at it, but now I'm pretty good and am finally able to adjust recipes and know how to fix problems. I still am not in love with cooking, but I do enjoy trying new recipes, and have come a long way from absolutely hating to cook!
My cooking tragedies
I've done so many stupid things in the kitchen, most of them involving me forgetting that I was cooking! I once was boiling eggs and forgot about them. I went in the basement with my husband for who knows how long. I suddenly remembered the eggs! I ran up stairs to a nasty smell. The water had boiled away and the eggs were actually popping open in the pan and everywhere! Now I set a timer whenever I boil water so I don't forget about it!

Black Forest Cake I
Very delicious! I used strawberries instead of cherries, but did everything else the same and it was wonderful. Very moist and I loved the whipped cream topping!

Apple Yogurt Muffins
I thought these were really delicious. I ate like 4 the day I made them. I did, however, add an extra 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the recipe per other reviewers' suggestion of needing more sweetness. Also, make sure you cut up the apple really small, or even cook the apples down a little in some butter and sugar to soften them up. They are a bit too crispy still for my taste, but it's only a minor thing. That, plus the sugar issue is why I gave it 4 instead of 5.

One Bowl Brownies
This are perfect! I've been looking for a recipe that tastes like boxed brownies, only better. I'm not a fan of cake brownies, these are definitely fudgey. The first time I even messed up the recipe and only added half the butter, but they turned out absolutely perfect, so I'll continue to do that to have a lower fat version. The second time they were good, but I overbaked, so make sure you keep an eye on them.
