About this Cook
Early 50's and a husband of a beautiful woman, who, despite the fact that works so very hrad in and around our home, never complains about her salary or lack thereof. Also a father of a wonderful 19 year old daughter. We have just transferred our home from Calgary Alberta to Houston,Texas and are all looking forward to seeing a new culture in operation daily.
My favorite things to cook
I love real BBQ ( Houston will be a good thing for that ), as well as grilling. Meats are high on my list, but I also enjoy italian style dinners that involve pasta and sauces. I am also like the kneading of homemade bread dough and the smell it generates in our house, while the fresh bread is baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anytime we have a turkey with all the trimmings, it is time for my wife to leave the kitchen. I do the bird as well as a very savoury bread and suasage stuffing. I've been doing it for over 20 years, and my immediate as well as our extended family look forward to it each and every holiday.
My cooking triumphs
As a young man, learning to bake bread from scratch. My mother was a great teacher and, at 85 years old, is still baking a few loaves each week. Learning that, taught me that I could really cook anything I wanted and that has stuck with me to this day.
My cooking tragedies
As a member of a 6 couple, once every two months dinner club, we were hosting dinner at our place in the country. I was trying to BBQ a tenderloin and the wind kept blowing out the gas BBQ. On the fourth time of lighting it, the BBQ blew up in my face and one of the guests took me off to the hospital. My darling wife, finished the roast in the oven and ten people enjoyed dinner together. My good friend and ambulance driver and myself arrived home when all was finished and the two of us finished our dinner by ourselves while the rest of the crowd laughed at my bandages around my head. Old too soon and smart too late.

Devil's Steak Sauce
This is a wonderful steak sauce. I doubled the recipe after using 5 shakes of Tabasco sauce as opposed to five drops. I increased everything 2 times and left the additional Tabasco out. It is now perfect! It has a lot of flavor and just the right amount of kick in the finish. Cudos to the submitter!
