I'm married with 2 children, and 1 beautiful granddaughter.i'm just your average everyday female with to much time on her hands.if i'm not baking,i'm redecorating something in the household.but i enjoy it.i watch the cooking channels, and the homemakeover channels.lots of great ideas and recipes.i just found out about allrecipes.i was actually on my computer 4 1/2 hours just checking out different recipes.time to install my printer so i can print them out.to many to write out.i truly enjoy this web site.i actually came across it while reviewing wandascountryhome web.another great website.once i hook up my digital camera,i will have my daughter show me how to e-mail photos.
My favorite things to cook
my favorite things to cook are cakes.i love the reaction i get from friends and families about my cakes.my auntie who just celebrated her 85th birthday on 03/07/09 just love my pina colada cake, which is pretty much the same as the coconut poke cake.so i made that for her using a butter cake recipe instead of the white cake mix.it was enjoyed by all.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my favorite cooking tradition would have to be Thanksgiving,it's a time when everyone gets together and share what they're thankful for.everyday that our Heavenly Father wakes me up is something to be thankful for.but i also picked this holiday for my family tradition is because my daughter's birthday falls on or around that holiday.so we'll have Thanksgiving and a Birthday celebration all in one.i love cooking for Christmas and Thanksgiving.that's when i really show off my skills.
My cooking tragedies
i have a few,but there is this one in particular that i can laugh about.i was about 11 or 12 years of age,my grandparents raised me.so i was always in the kitchen with my grandmother watching her as she cooked.that's how i got started.so this one day my grandfather wanted some cornbread made.not from a box.so i beg my grandmother to let me make some.she told me i didn't know how,but i insisted that i did,so my gramps told her to let me try it.so i mixed everything up like my grandma did.except i left out a main ingredient.(the baking powder).didn't find out until it came out of the oven looking like a pancake.i went in a full skillet.my granddad put jelly on it,ate it like a pancake, and said it was good.he and myself enjoyed it.
