About this Cook
My name is stephanie, I doing the whole "stay-at-home-mom" thing for right now until I can find a job. I have a 2 year old son named Jamie who is a hoot-not to mention a picky eater. I live in florida with my boyfriend Jason-who may I add is even pickier of an eater then my son. I love to cook I just hate having to clean up afterwards haha don't we all? My boyfriend picks on me because every free moment i have i am logged in here trying to find some things that we all will eat. So I guess that would be about the sum of me for now.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, I like to cook, but I love baking even more. For a while there i was baking selling specialty cakes for $5 just to give me an excuse to bake. I'm not too terribly big on eating sweets myself (either way you look at it i am a woman and chocolate is my weakness no matter what) but i love to make them and get creative. Now when it comes to cooking meals i like to find stuff that is quick and easy due to...well its just kind of hard to cook a fancy meal when you have a 2 year old tugging your pants the whole time. Actually when i made his birthday cake i set him on my knee and propped him against the counter and let him "help" mix the batter which he thought was just great so hopefully i would have passed the whole cooking thing on to him.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year for the holidays when i was growing up i used to help my mom bake dozens upon dozens of cookies for christmas. I mean there had to be hundreds, just all kinds of different cookies from sugar cookies to cow patties. Now that i am on my own i have started to do that with my son, unfortunatly it will take time before he learns to frost the cookie, not eat the cookie lol.
My cooking triumphs
That would be my pork chop batter recipe, sorry to tease ya'll but I'm keeping that one a secret that im going to pass down. When you think about it, you really dont come across too terribly many "secret family recipes" unless your watching a busch's baked beans commercial, so i decided to start one with this. All in all i would have to say that would be my best recipe other then a spaghetti carbonara that i got off this site. That one is going to get passed down too lol.
My cooking tragedies
yeh, lets not go into this subject....there are way too many to count....

Caramelized French Toast
I'm not sure if i did something wrong on this recipe but it was a complete DISASTER. I could not get the caramel to harden to save my life and it just turned into this runny syrupy concoction. I had just figured i did it wrong and i would try again next time, but when we took a bite into it, it just was not a very pleasant taste at all. Entirely too sweet and the taste just didn't mix with the toast at all. I can assure that i will not be trying this recipe again though.

Spaghetti Carbonara II
This was probably one of the best recipes I have found on this site yet. My family actually eats it! Not only that but they want seconds, and with as picky as they are that's a winner to me. Also i loved that it made so much, I am notorious for being the person who always cooks too much for dinner but in this case there are never leftovers. there was enough to feed my family of 3, plus 2 guests twice! This is deffinatly a great recipe.
