When I was little I had my easy bake oven and plastic play kitchen I was ready to go! I always had a passion for cooking and had considered going to culinary school but I opted out. I have taken a few baking classes at the local community college and plan to go back to school this fall and recieve my baking and pastry arts certificate. I am very modest, and just like to cook for a hobby more so than anything because I chicken out when I have an opportunity to use my skills. My husband loves that I make a homecooked meal ALMOST every night.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook really anything I'm always trying out new recipes and tweaking the ones that I have made before. But if I had to pick I like making more ethnic dishes, salads, and one dish meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father did most of the cooking when I was growing up, and we were thankful for that. My mother wasn't a very skilled cook because her father did all the cooking for her mother and she would heat it up for the kids. Where as my dads mother cooked almost everything from scratch and it was delicious!! We really don't have food traditions in my family which my be odd to some. I have more memories pf food that we would eat instead of traditions of what we made in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I think that my biggest triumph is that I am gaining more knowledge. I am finally to the point where I can think of things to make and actually have a basic knowledge on where to start without cheating and looking at other peoples recipes and seeing what they did and finishing off with that. After I make a dish a few times I have an ability to tweak it and make it my own. I think that I have come along way and am still growing!! That is my triumph!!!
My cooking tragedies
Oh No! do you have to go there. I think we all have that one time where we shake our head in shame and wonder how we let it get that bad! I have too many stories and when I have more time I will add it here I promise!!
