Pittsburgh Penguins VDay cake
About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook the meals my mom made when I was young. The types of food that bring you back, comfort food. I also really love to bake. During the holidays I make pumpkin and apple pie, as well as cheesecake for friends, family and diabetics I know. Store bought sugar-free baked goods are the pits!
My cooking tragedies
Breaking my glass stovetop with a ceramic salt shaker. *shatter* :-(

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse
all i can say is WOW. I used half German and SemiSweet bars for the chocolate part. Mic'd the choc for 15-20sec intervals, worked fine! Came out a little too strong? for me, so I added some confectioners sugar to the cream to brighten it up a bit. Very rich, much better than the cheater way!! (coolwhip and choc pudding)

Rolled Buttercream Fondant
This was my first attempt using and making Fondant, and it worked pretty well. Only thing was that it seemed to be pretty greasy and loose. I kept adding confectioners' sugar, but I stopped because I was afraid it would crack. It was pretty heavy and tore a lil bit, but ultimately was fine. Also, if you want your fondant to be white, you need to purchase Fondant Whitener aka Titanium Dioxide. You can find this at Michaels craft stores. Otherwise, the fondant will be yellowy (at least mine was).
