About this Cook
I love to cook! I collect cookbooks and actually enjoy reading cookbooks! I also love to play golf and spend time with my husband, our dog Ripley and my sweet little grandson.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking for others from the everyday spaghetti to elegant dinner parties for my family and friends. I also love to grill. Boneless Buffalo Wings are a favorite go-to recipe in a pinch. I also enjoy baking decadent desserts that include the unexpected ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Probably like most I love Thanksgiving and the traditional recipes that we make year after year. I also love making my grandmother's homemade biscuits and my mom's dumplings. As a native from Louisiana, cajun food is always a great reminder of family traditions in our family - shrimp creole and seafood gumbo.
My cooking triumphs
I have gotten really good at taking a "ok" recipe and making it my own with my adjustments. I have also put together a cookbook for my church as a fundraiser and it turned out to be one of the best books I own and everyone raved about it and still does to this day.
My cooking tragedies
I purchased a cake from a local baker for my husband's 50th birthday a couple of years ago. It was a white cake with a strawberry cheesecake filling. I tried for over a year to replicate that recipe with one disaster after another. I recently ran into the retired baker and she gave me the uber-simple recipe...I almost put my head in the oven!!!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs
This is fabulous! As always I made a few changes but Jenn definitely has the perfect base recipe. Substituted 3 cans tomatoe paste for 1 tomatoe paste, 1 tomatoe sauce and 1 can water. Diminished the sugar to only 2 Tbsp. (don't like it sweet...the crushed tomatoes add enough sweet). Also added 1 can of chicken broth in addition to the 1 cup of water. Added 2 tsp garlic powder as well. Make sure to salt the meat adequately so that it brings out the flavor in the other seasonings. I added a little garlic to the meat as well. THANKS JENN!!

Stuffed Pepper Soup IV
Great flavor and filling dinner. This is a great recipe a quick throw-together dinner. I usually have all the ingredients on hand. I did add one more bell pepper and omitted the sage (just don't like the taste of it in anything). Also used one can of Rotel and one 14 oz can of diced tomatoes instead of one 28 oz can of tomatoes. It's even better the next day.

Mom's Great Green Beans
Great recipe...made for a dinner party and everyone thought they were fantastic. Only thing I would do differently is add everything to the pan before adding the beans. Stir minimally to avoid tearing up the beans as they cook.
