The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
I was sooo dissapointed with these cookies! I mixed everything together and it seemed fine, chilled for over 24 hours, had only a little trouble rolling out (had to use powdered sugar so it wouldn't stick.) The taste of the dough was really good so I was expecting better. My son and I worked so hard at cutting out autumn shapes (the dough softened so quickly!) and popped them in the oven. These cookies didn't just spread, they ran for their lives! Turkeys, leaves and pumpkins went in and shapeless blobs came out. The finished cookie did have a good taste although a smidge floury. I followed the recipe, adding a cup of sugar and an additional tsp of vanilla. It has been muggy here lately, maybe that was the problem although we had the air running while making them. Oh well. The search goes on.
