About this Cook
I have been cooking since I was big enough to stir with a spoon. I live in a small town, am active in my church and am a member of a women's study group in my town. I occasionaly teach a tatting class for those that want to learn how.
My favorite things to cook
Any thing with pasta, bread, coffee cakes, salads, bar cookies
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is always at my house. We have 3 kinds of appetizers, then the traditional dinner. We all bring a dish to Christmas dinner, menu is decided by whoever is hosting it.
My cooking triumphs
My family raves that I make wonderful chocolates - fruit and/or nut soft centers. This is ironic as I am profoundly allergic to chocolate. I am famous for my ham salad and coffee cakes at church. I compiled my own cook book and published it in 2000.
My cooking tragedies
I can not make divinity to save my life. It never sets up.

Cinnamon-Apple Cake AKA Hanukkah Cake
Very good flavor! The cream cheese really adds to this. Wonderful as is, but may add a few nuts to the topping next time.

Minnesota Mail Carrier Cookies
This is not just another oatmeal cookie! I did not have raisins, so I used dried cherries. This is a keeper. Will definately make again.

Diane's Chicken Dish
Well, this is wonderful stuff. I did mix up my own herbs combined with oil and vinegar as I wanted to see if it worked with less salt and sugar and it does work just fine. This recipe is my new favorite as a "go to" as I usually have rice cooked and in the freezer.
