About this Cook
38 year old "Jersey Girl" now living in Saint Augustine, Florida. Married mom of two teenagers, Nicole and Sam. I work at a small local market that sells beautiful, fresh meat, seafood and produce.
My favorite things to cook
I am a dessert maker - Not professional by any means, but my family loves desserts - cookies, cakes, puddings, candy. My husband is the entree maker.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother always made full course meals when we went to her house, and my mom told me growing up they ate a full dinner every single night, including dessert. My mom was one of the new breed of "working moms" in the 70's and 80's when I was growing up, so simple and "semi-homemade" was her thing. My 17 year old son now takes culinary classes in his high school.
My cooking triumphs
Teaching my teenage kids to cook. My son is a natural, my daughter, well, god bless her husband someday when she marries, she reminds me of Debra from Everyone loves Raymond. My three nephews, aged 9, 10, and 11 spend the weekends with us and they are developing a passion for cooking with us as well.
My cooking tragedies
Oh I have a tragedy at least once a week where I overcook noodles, or burn the meat on the grill, etc. I have so many things going on at once when I get home from work every day that I tend to wander off and get sidetracked!

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II
Wow...this is awesome! I work at a produce market, so we frequently make banana loafs, and this one was great: moist, sweet, a huge hit with kids and adults both. I added a little extra banana and it had a nice, rich banana flavor. This makes two BIG loaves that are slightly crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. A keeper for sure!!

Creamy Cinnamon Rice Pudding
I knew this recipe was going to be good even before I made it...and it completely met my expectations. So rich and creamy, great flavor. We left the cinnamon out and sprinkled it on top. This recipe makes a LARGE pot, and it still disappeared from our fridge within 48 hours! Lots of indulgent ingredients, but well worth it. Go big or go home, right?

Buttercream Frosting
A tried and true standard - at our house we add some buttercream frosting to many different desserts, from cookies to brownies to the usual cakes and cupcakes - for extra yumminess!
