Guacamole

This was easy and delicious and was a big hit with guests! I didn't have time to let it chill for an hour, but I don't think it mattered. It was gone in a matter of minutes.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
I thought the stew part of the recipe was very good, but felt that the biscuit dumplings were much too doughy. My children, who will eat anything, felt the same. Next time I will use Anne's frozen dumplings which are as good as homemade, but much easier.

Spicy Shrimp and Grits

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
I do have to reiterate about the grits vs. cornmeal. They are not the same!! Please do not use cornmeal in this recipe. Also, I would like to agree with the reviewer who adds crispy bacon. I fry it first, then crumble over top. That is how it is served in restaurants here in southeast N.C.

Good Ol' Alabama Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
Having been born and raised in Alabama I have always considered my mother's sweet tea to be the best in the world. But she does not re-boil her tea, after steeping, and only uses one cup of sugar per half gallon. And her tea is plenty sweet...in more ways than one! She also says that chilling the tea, before it has cooled to room temperature, will make it cloudy. So, I would not want to add the ice to the pitcher. Give it a little while to cool, then pour over ice. Perfect!
