About this Cook
I'm a music teacher and love what I do, but...if I had to make a career change I would want to become a chef!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook savory dishes, especially using fresh vegetables. I really enjoy stir frys, grilled vegetables, and salads. I'm not much of a baker, but I'd love to learn!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother taught me how to make her fabulous pies, although I'm still not very good at making the crust. I'm so thankful that I took the time to spend with her and learn while I still could.
My cooking triumphs
Wonderful stir frys with fresh vegetables, and an incredible pumpkin cheesecake (Paula Deen's recipe) at Thanksgiving last year, and some super cabbage rolls!!!
My cooking tragedies
Hmm...none yet...except resorting to Hamburger Helper for the first year or so of married life. Thank goodness I've seen the light!

Cheesecake Bars
These bars were very good. I made the mistake of using a 9x9 pan instead of 8x8 so they were rather thin. I also had to substitute white sugar for brown because I was out, which I don't recommend, but it worked ok. Despite these things they were still delicious and were gone within 24 hours.

Thai Curry Soup
This is delicious, even with a few modifications I had to make. I used chicken instead of shrimp, frozen spinach instead of fresh, garlic powder instead of cloves, and left out the lemon grass. Even with all of these shortcuts, it was still delicious and reminded me of Noodles and Co.'s dish

Zesty Grilled Chops
This was really good. I generally don't like pork chops, but I really enjoyed these. I only had time to marinate them for an hour or so but I basted them a little more while they were on the grill. They were very moist and flavorful.
