FABULOUS! I couldn't believe the compliments I received after I made this! It is by far one of the greatest desserts I've ever had. I did however modify the recipe a little, which only enhanced the near perfect recipe. For the topping I added a 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar – this is in addition to the 1/2 cup white sugar it calls for, and then I sprinkled a little cinnamon on the top before putting in the oven.
Also, I cooked my apples in a pot on low heat with 1 Tablespoon lemon juice and 2 Tablespoons cornstarch beforehand. This helped to soften the apples the perfect amount for the final product.
