I'm a mother of five children ranging in age from 14-2. I enjoy trying new things to make for my family on a weekly basis. Most of the time I get rave reviews from everyone. I like to spend my spare time with my kids. My hobbies include reading, crocheting and I also like to write. I spend a lot of time surfing the net and checking out recipe's. On the side, I also make specialty cakes for people. It's something that I really enjoying doing and I get better with every cake I make.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook would have to be thanksgiving dinner. I got a recipe for an herbed butter from Sandra Lee that is so incredible! I enjoy making chicken more ofter now as well because of the herbed butter that goes under the skin.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really know what is meant by cooking traditions but I do have dishes I am required to bring to family gatherings. One of them would be my cherry cake. Another would be my grape jelly meatballs.
My cooking triumphs
The cherry cake is probably one of my favorites I make. I also have a recipe for fish that I refuse to ever change. Everytime I make it,anyone close to my house or near me (if i go outside right after) say it smells like they walked into a restaurant. To me, that is a compliment! My kids love my blackened fish. They always it all of it.
My cooking tragedies
For some reason I can't make brownies that don't get hard around the edges or peanut butter fudge that is really moist. mine is more solid and dryer. As for regular foods,I can't make macaroni casserole to save my life! Cheese always clumps together or everything gets runny!
