About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything but pork. I married into a muslim family so I do not eat pork or pork products of any kind or alcohol. I am also a southern girl so I love southern soul food(minus the bacon) and BBQ. The only food I don't seem to like is french.

Preety's Chickpea Salad
this is a great base salad.its almost something like my mother in law (from yemen) makes.the onion is kind of overpowering and its sort of missing something. next time im going to try adding some avacados and maybe some red bellpepper and instead of chopped onion im going to grate a small amount of onion and used lemon juice instead of lemon slices and a little more salt

Beer Battered Chicken
although this sounds like it would be great it fell a little short for me.i am going to try this again with some tony's cajun seasoning mixed in. i found it to be just too bland and the batter was too mushy not crunchy at all. me being a southern girl i like big flavors and if its fried chicken of any kind i think it should be crunchy. i did try to thicken the batter with a little four but that didn't work well.i think this a great idea but definately not for pickey people like me.

Beef and Onion Stew
thank you so much for this recipe! i have a very picky husband and he actually liked it!the only thing i did different was add some diced potatoes to make it even more hearty but only because my husband is a big guy and has a very physically demanding job so he is famished by the time he gets home.i will definately be making this part of our regular family meals!
