About this Cook
I am a full time student right now going for my BS in nursing. I am also a mother of 4 my oldest being 18 and youngest being 4. I really enjoy cooking I am always finding ways to make kid friendly meals I have the pickiest eaters around. My husband enjoys grilling so in the summer time if it can be made on the grill we fix it, even desserts have been made on the grill. My favorite time of year for cooking is from fall to spring. I love all the winter foods, comfort come home foods. My family are big on soups and stews they love all kinds of hearty soups. And we use all our own veggies that we have canned from the summer time for our soups. It makes it really nice.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I am great at decoration. I also like trying new things that have different flavors. I love a recipe I found that is stuffed acorn squash my family loves it. I cook everything, I will try a recipe acouple of times before I deciede if its going to work. Cooking is what you make of it you can fix anything to your liking. What one person does not like the next might taste buds are a funny thing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
This is a new tradition that my family started after I got married and started having Thanksgiving at my house. As the women are preparring the meal the men are out side stringging christmas lights and putting up decorations. So after the meal and everything quites down some and it gets dark we all gather outside and count down to switch on the lights to start of the christmas season.
My cooking triumphs
The first Thanksgiving I made at my first house after I was married. I made two different turkeys. We deep fried one which was awsome and we do one like that every year now. And the other I soak in a brine mix over night and roasted the next day. To my surprise they both turned out like I had been doing this for years. I made stuffen muffins which were a big hit. To prepare for this meal I used the internet and food network to find alot of different ideas and it turned out amazing. My mother kept saying now it will be ok if it doesn't turn out the way you want its your first Thanksgiving, but I believe it turned out better then what I wanted.
My cooking tragedies
I was making a Barney cake for my daughters 1st birthday, this was 17 years ago. And I was iceing the cake and making the icing the colors of Barney, I had just finished finally after staying up most the night decorating it so she could have it for the next day, placed it on a cooling rack in my kitchen and went to bed, woke up a couple hours later to my cats with purple and green paws. They thought the cake was for them and decieded to play in it. Needless to say we had a store bought cake that time.

Amish Breakfast Casserole
I really enjoyed this, I did take the advice of some others and broil the top of the casserole. I made this for my mother-in-law who is from California and she enjoyed it said she had never had anything like this. I might try sausage next, especially the apple sausage that come during the fall season. I will be making this again to take camping this fall. I plan on pre making it and heat and eat while there.
