I grew up sitting on the kitchen counter as my mom, aunt and Grandmother baked, helping as much as they would let me. I started baking on my own as soon as I was old enough to use the oven. I looove baking cakes, cookies and bars for friends, family and co-workers. I recently started making fondant-covered cakes after getting hooked on the Food Network Cake challenges. Every year I can't wait plan out what we are going to bake for all of the gatherings at Christmas time with my Mom. We almost always make peanut butter balls, spritz cookies, and freezer cookies, as well as trying at least one new recipe. Probably my most recent fondant-covered cake...I finally found a fondant recipe that holds together well and looks like the store-bought stuff but tastes better. I'll post a picture sometime. Over-whipping ganache with $9 of Scharffen-Berger chocolate in it! I was a puddle on the floor for a few minutes. Chocolate Butter is unhelpful.
