About this Cook
I am a Supply Officer in the US Navy. I am currently on shore duty and I should not deploy again for at least another 2 years. Since I have a lot more time on my hands for the time being, I have found a new love for cooking. My husband is my guinnea pig and I love feeding him and friends.
My favorite things to cook
I try to cook as healthy as possible but I sometimes stray....oops..
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom is from Thailand and I cook some traditional Thai dishes everyone now and then. I am just having fun with new recipes for now.
My cooking triumphs
ummm...feeding over 800 Marines and Sailors on deployement....
My cooking tragedies
Our Christmas Turkey..I would rather not explain that one...

Juicy Thanksgiving Turkey
It turned out really moist and delicious. I rubbed the outside with olive oil and shot up the bird with a butter/tony chachere's injection. Since I am relatively inexperienced when it comes to turkey's I suggest that if you want to attempt this make sure that you buy a thermometer and check the turkey before you pull it out instead of following the recipe time. I goofed and pulled the turkey out before it was done. It didn't ruin it but I had to put it back in the oven and it turned out delicious anyways!

Candied Sweet Potatoes
SOOOO Delicious. This is definitely not the healthiest dish on the menu but it was very good and the guests loved it. I boiled the potatoes and panned it up the night before Thanksgiving and I only had to pop it in the oven for 20-25 minutes. It was really easy but really delicious.

Pumpkin Swirled Cheese Cake
DELICIOUS!!!! This recipe has turned into a tradition in my house for the holidays. I have had guests do special requests for it during the holidays as well. The only thing that I do differently is that I use graham cracker crust (personal preference) Do not skip this recipe it is AWESOME!!!
