I am a merchandising manager at a B&N in Houston, TX. I am also working on several young adult novels and hope one day to be published.
My hobbies are reading, my wonderful puppies, movie watching, stitching, knitting and trying not to light the kitchen on fire...:)
My favorite things to cook
I love desserts, muffins and quick breads. Lately I have been experimenting with ice cream also.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday pie was a tradation while I was growing up. It was a Kellogs cereal recipe. I loved it because you can keep it in the freezer and pull it out when you need some. If anyone wants the recipe, just ask.
My cooking triumphs
Pumpkin muffins, based on the Fannie Farmer bread recipe, tweeked just a little to suit my needs. The slow cooker apple sauce from this site and the apple pie muffins. Oh-the cinnamon ice cream was wonderful too.
My cooking tragedies
When I first met my husband, I tried to make him a chicken dish that was still raw hours after I had started it. To be honest, looking back, it is a wonder I didn't poison the poor man with the lack of cooking knowledge I had back then. (shudder) Oh yes, I almost lit the kitchen on fire with a flaming hot pad from Hades that escaped me and went flying (also when I was younger). I strive daily to keep flaming fireballs under control and am making progress.
