About this Cook
I'm have two kitty cats, Leroy and Snoopy, and a fish named Holden Caulfield. I consider time cooking "me time." (I don't cook well with others.) And I'm a lousy baker, which doesn't bother me since I don't have a sweet tooth anyway.
My favorite things to cook
Beer can chicken with grilled corn on the cob. Cold salads with fresh veggies. Cheesy twice baked potatoes...Mac n cheese...anything with cheese!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Dad taught me you can grill pretty much everything - even breakfast. Rain or shine, I think most of our meals are prepared outdoors. Mom taught me that the stove is also a good ally. She makes a mean chicken pastry. My own tradition is to prepare a different chili every Monday night during football season. That's when the crock pot becomes my weapon of choice!
My cooking triumphs
I've been on a quest lately to discover the perfect mac n cheese recipe. I think I about got it when I blended the assortment of leftover Boar's Head cheese (Canadian cheddar, gouda, fontina...) from the fridge last week. Now if I can only remember the exact combination....
My cooking tragedies
Once I was heating a pan on the stove and neglected to notice the roach trap that had fallen in it. Needless to say, it melted and ruined the pan. (No I didn't eat it!)

Pesto Sauce
Very good pesto. Pretty color! I used 1/2 cup of oil based on other people's recommendations. It's very garlicky, but that's fine with me. I used just a few almonds because that's all I had on hand.

Gnocchi I
A fancy way to use pantry basics! I used a little less flour, based on other people's recommendations. I had never made gnocchi before, and they came out just right. I served it with pesto sauce.
