(it's still more baking than cooking!) Baking is much more comfortable for me. My favorite dessert to make is cherry pie. It's my 'signature dish' so far but I have so much to learn! Going through my Grandma's old cookbooks. She would jot down anything yummy they mentioned on TV to try later. If they went to commercial or talked too fast, you might end up with only the first ingredients! "Half a cup of Crisco, add to...". She also made notations for each one like "V. Good" or "4/4/78 made this for the retired teachers meeting". Her cookbooks are gold to my family. Making Grandma's recipe for Christmas cookies is our best family tradition. So far, my flexibility. I love trying new and different ingredients. Especially in ethnic dishes. In my early teens I confused baking SODA for baking POWDER, those were some gross biscuits!
